The woodland on this sandstone escarpment has many areas devoid of undergrowth; the beeches often stand isolated from the other trees. Canon 400D, 18-55 @ 44, 1/2 sec @ f16, ISO 200

This is really nice. The strong trunks really make this, especially the ziggy one on the right. It is a great contrast to the color. Very well composed and sweet scene.

The isolation and the shapes of the trees are what I like about this image.

I think this is my favorite of your recent woodland posts, Ian. The transition of the leaves as they go from summer to autumn is especially nice as is that lovely shaped tree just to the right of the prominent one. I hope you were able to get a couple images of that one also as the main event. Beautifully done.

Very nice colors and shapes and nice composition with the off-center main tree trunk.

Ian, Perfect work setting up this composition with placement of the large tree and it's branches. The ground covered with fall leaves adds such a nice feel to this and I sure enjoy that back tree with the S curves.

Ian, Excellent! Agree with Ed, I think this is the best so far of this area. Great composition and you've captured both the transition of colors, but also the canopy and great presentation of this magnificent tree. I also like the swaying little companion trunk on the right.
Processing looks spot on. The only minor wish would be a tad more room at the bottom, but that's minor and works well as presented.

This one is excellent, Ian! I like the way that you have framed the radiating branches in the comp. The mix of green and gold is also very nice. Great work!

Ian, I like the shapes of the trees and the green trunks. Very nice collection of the autumnal colors, from green to gold. Beautiful work!

It's a beautiful day for a walk in the woods, Ian. There's such a fine overall glow here and the variety of yellows and greens is wonderful even as that amazing tree in front dominates the view.

Another great image of that magnificent tree. "Work your subject" as they say and that is what you did. Beautiful range of colours and I like that 'dancing' tree on the right.

The lighting and color are very nice in this scene. The luminosity of the foliage really carry this image. The dark tree trunks offset this light very nicely.

Ian, this is a remarkable image. Love the glowing understory and trunks of the beaches. My only suggestion, and very minor, would be to isolate and burn, the bright trunk moving diagonally from the base of the main trunk into the forest. Not a big deal at all, but a subtle eye grabber.

This is real nice, Ian. You have made some fine images in this forest. The composition does feel a little tight on the bottom, though. I love the color and the shapes of the trees. The processing looks great.
