Pretty Seeds--Ugly Weeds

Nature confuses me at times. I know Mother Nature is not be messed with, because she is one bad hombre with that Karma thing! So, why does she make these beautiful, fluffy, light catching filaments to carry the milkweed seeds off in every direction the wind blows to lay roots. Those roots grow into garden wrecking ugly weeds not easily removed. "For every thing there is a purpose". IDK what that is, but I'm sure having fun shooting them!

I had no idea, Bill. Thank you..I just googled it and learned something I really didn't know! We have a number of milkweeds in the yard, and I didn't see one monarch all season. Now the pods are covered with aphid like tiny orange and black bugs...Halloween prank??!! I added that photo so you can see what I mean....

Yes, Lori, milkweed likes to propagate through underground runners that go a long ways, but this is a great butterfly attractor pulling in Monarch's, Tiger Swallowtails, Black Swallowtails, and several species of skippers (all of which make fine Macro subjects).  I've encouraged Milkweed in parts of my flower garden because of it's value in attracting butterflies, but yes it does want to go places where I don't want it.  This is a great look at the seeds with excellent dof and details set against that black background.

Nice imaging Lori.  Yes, mother nature does a list of inexplicably wrong things that make our lives miserable.   Butterflies are not one of them.

Lori ..I like this image for its composition. nice monotonous feel. Very well done on this.

Regarding the beautiful looking and no so beautiful looking nature. I have noticed that not good looking caterpillars end up with beautiful butterflies and vice versa.

Similarly ...deer and other prey animals usually have one litter. and lions and tigers have more than one litter. But when they all grow up ..the numbers are opposite.
