This Polar Bear had been snoozing on an iceberg off the coast of Spitsbergen, as we slowly approached in our zodiac.  He lifted his head, sniffed the air several times, gave us this big yawn and returned to his much needed nap.

Great image of this sleepy polar bear!  I love the pose and that he's looking right at you.

Great behavior with that yawn, Paula, and a beautiful white-on-white image.

Nice catch on the big yawn, Paula.  The white on white theme works well, with the yellowish tinge of the bear's fur standing out nicely from the bluish colors in the ice.  I think some subtle dodging of the open mouth to show a bit more detail in the tongue would add nicely to what's the most novel part of the image.

Beautiful image of this polar bear and the snow.  I might try cropping a little off the left to de-center it a bit more.

Very cute.   Much better in the large image.  The texture and detail come through far better in a large image.

Wow, Don't know how I missed this one..
Love this image!
Excellent detail in the fur and snow - a tough exposure handled very well.
I agree a little more detail in the open mouth, and in the eyes too,  would improve this even more. Try the shadow/highlight tool, if you have it, for the mouth. For the eye, select each eye individually (there are probably easier ways to do this, but I don't know them) and then adjust the "levels" or "brightness" and then color saturation to see what eye colours you can bring out.
A very fine image!
