This really captures the sense the elephants are coming at you at a good pace.  Nice detail in the lead elephant.  I'm not clear on what the red on the ears are; I don't recall seeing it on other elephant photos.

Spectacular. Love everything about this image. Must have had very bright sun behind them. Wonder if the red is blood flow in outer part of ears.

Love the light filtering through the dust and the strong back lighting.

Thanks friends!
The red you're seeing in the ears is the delicate skin of ears with red pigmentation, against the light.

Hi Jagdeep,

I have to say that when I first looked at this shot I wondered if some red highlight warning switch was turned on! enlightened

I really do like this shot - so much to look at and with great depth and textures. From a natural history perspective the red is fascinating...and one wonders if it's a function of blood being directed to the surface capillaries to help dissipate heat. From a photographic perspective I'm not sure if the red really adds to the shot - it's just so darned bright it looks artificial. I wonder if pulling back on the saturation of the reds (selectively on the ears only) might make it look more natural? Just a thought...

Cheers...

Brad
