Dewey Dahlia

It's mid-October, and the dahlias at the local public gardens are still going pretty strong. We've only had one very mild frost - quite unusual for here. I prefer shooting dahlias on fall mornings because of the dew, and I took this last last week. D600, 150 f2.8 macro @ f18, iso 200, 1/30, tripod. Suggestions and other comments welcome.

The dew drops and the touch of green in the corner add nicely to a well composed and lighted photo.

The color is a joy and the dewdrops are a definite plus. I'm ambivalent about the greenery.

Lovely, Scott.  Perfect focus and dof for this subject and the dew always adds a nice touch.  I also like the way you framed it with the bit of green on the left.

Hi Scott, great composition and a wonderful glow and 3D feel to the image.  I think the green works here, almost surprisingly (though I think there is a wonderful square composition starting just right of the green ... ) - like it!

This is beautiful.  I think I prefer the one you posted after this, but this is also exquisite.

Scott: There is just enough green that its obviously intentional and not an oversight or mistake. I'm like Phil but it certainly doesn't detract markedly. Beautiful subject superbly rendered.>=))>

Gorgeous bloom and lovely dew drops, Scott. I prefer this version and might warm up just a bit. For me, this has more breathing space. In the closer image, the OOF petals on the right side became more noticeable.Very nice work!
