Coneflower II & Redo

This is a younger blossom with the cone still unformed and the leaves in a plane with the center.

5DIII, 180 mm f/3.5 macro, tripod and cable release, f/16, 3.2 sec, manual exposure.  Processed in LR5 & CS6.  Just a bit of noise reduction and cleanup and some dodging of the darker areas.  Taken indoors with indirect light from a skylight and artificial bg.  October 9th at 1:51 PM.

Comments and criticisms are always appreciated.

Thanks,

Dennis I love the color contrast between the Valentine warm red and the dark cold green. When I want - or have to - cut the subject I prefer cutting strongly in all the directions. That's why I would lower the rectangle from the top for cutting a bit also the petal still entire. That is me of course.

Dennis, beautiful red and nice pattern in the center of the flower. The younger blossom is clean. I might like a bit more room on the bottom.

After the first couple of comments, particularly Gigi's, I went back and looked at this again and decided to reprocess it.  Sorry, Yun, there's no canvas below the image to add.

Thanks,

Hi Dennis, the repost ist a much stronger image and the lighter green I think is better as well.

I like the colors and fine detail, Dennis. I agree with Gigi about leaving just one un-cut off petal, and I prefer the repost.

Much prefer the repost. The colors, particularly the lighter green make a night and day difference. Gigi's suggestion of a crop also makes a huge difference.

Dennis: Count me in with those preferring the repost. A bit more room on the bottom would suit me but this works well for me as is. >=))>
