Leaf Strokes

This image was made in October of 2004 at a cascade on Lone Pine Creek near Whitney Portal. I actually set up on a narrow ledge: One of those places where I did not dare to stand back and admire my work. angel I loved the strokes among the alder leaves that were caused by the flowing water.

Tachihara 4x5
Fujinon 135mm
Astia 100F
Significant TK's Masks work to reduce the blue sky reflection in the pool.

Please see the large version. Thanks!

Your thoughts are always appreciated! cool

Beautiful little scene perfectly captured. The darks are a bit dark on my display.

Pretty little scene, Preston. I like the flow of the nicely shaped and colored leaves.

Very Nice Preston!  I have one of those Fujinon 135 mm lenses for my Linhoff 4x5, a real zinger.  The pool at the bottom adds an otherworldly aspect, at first a little confusing as the water is so clear.

Preston: Love the leaves and the patterns within them. I like the pool but there's not really enough interest there for me and I think I would be inclined to crop at least 50% of it. Just my humble less than 1¢ nit. >=))>

Preston, This image really works for me. I like the comp very much with the water included and love the leaf patterns. The yellows against the gray rock looks great to me and the shadow areas look just right on my monitor. Pretty cool shot from what sounds like not such a comfortable position.

Preston, my favorite part of this is the tension between the heavy collection of leaves above and the few scattered around the rock at the bottom.  The motion of the few leaves and the subtle blur in the water add some fine details.

Very nice, Preston! I suspect this needs to viewed in a large print to be truly appreciated. Well composed arrangement of elements and beautiful tones of yellows and browns in the aspen leaves. Hard to come up with any suggestions to improve.

A very interesting combination here that works well of the contrasting strips at the top and mysterious underwater murkiness at the bottom.
