Male Purple Finch

by Dennis Plank

Gallery: AvianPosted October 2, 2016203 views8 comments
From the same morning as my last post.  The nice uniform gray bg is due to fog that grayed out the distant trees but wasn't thick enough to interfere seriously at the distance from me to the birds.

7DII, Sigma 150-600 C @ 600 mm, f/9, 1/250, iso 640, aperture priority, pattern metering, -1/3 EV.  Processed in LR5 & CS6.  Cropped from a horizontal to a 7.7 MP 4x5 vertical before resizing.  Taken at 6:09 AM on May 30th.

Comments and criticisms are always appreciated.

Thanks,

Very nice Dennis, I always have trouble distinguishing the difference between House Finches and Purple Finches. They are so close. It would be nice if Purple finches were actually "purple". Great detail and I like the stance it has on the perch. Nice catch!  devil

beautifully taken Dennis.... Very sharp and good compo. Could crop it a little from the top to avoid blank space...

Nice image Dennis, the contrast between subject and BG really help this one pop off the page.
