Our native Balsamroot from the west side of the Cascades is one of my favorite spring flowers.  I managed to catch this one in pretty pristine condition this last spring.

5DIII, 180 mm f/3.5L macro, tripod and ballhead, f/16, 1/250, iso 1600, aperture priority, pattern metering, manual focus.  Processed in LR5 & CS6.  Full frame.  Taken at 10:09 AM on May 3rd at our local prairie preserve.

Your comments and criticisms are always appreciated.

Thanks,

Yes, Dennis, a western mountains spectacular.  I'm finding this a very interesting take on these flowers, with part of me wishing for more drama through higher contrast, but finding that I really like this lower contrast, nicely bright view and especially the little visitor near the bottom.

I like the soft yellows and the little critter on the petal.  Nicely composted.  TFS.
