White Pelican & Dam

It's been awhile since my last post, I'm finally getting some free time again. I was waiting for the Cormorants to catch some fish when this White Pelican landed fairly close to me. It was also watching the water for fish and every once in a while would turn and give me a look. I like the water bg which is a roller dam. I went early trying to get used to my new lens. enlightened  So far getting used to the extra weight has been the challenge.

Thanks for looking, comments & suggestions are always appreciated!

The flow over the dam creates a very interesting pattern as a background. Nice placement for the pelican. Good exposure on the whites.  Really looks nice when seen as a large detailed image.

Looks good Steve. Love the over the shoulder look. You did a good job keeping details in the whites.

I love the lines formed by the water over the spillway, Steve.  Superb detail and nice eye contact in the Pelican.

Pretty cool to get such a nice background pattern without having to go with a long exposure.  This mix of smooth lines and the jumbled texture of the foreground water is really nice.

Nice detail in this pelican, Steve. That flowing waters makes a very interesting background. Looks like the new lens is working great!
