In Search of Truth

One of my personal favorites from my Redwood trip earlier this year. After a day full of bluebird skies, my friends and I finally got the fog we were chasing. I was looking up at the giant trees while hiking and saw this interesting convergence.

Appreciate your thoughts on this one.

I really like the dreamy, high key look to the image. The blown out areas don't bother me a bit, as they fit well into the presentation. Very nicely done.

Crazy good, Sairam.  I got a stiff neck just viewing the large.  Very cool.

I really like this. I have been in the Redwoods in the fog and got some images I really like, but nothing like this. I also like the dreamy feeling of the image. This is well seen and photographed.

Very nice, curious about the techs of the image. What focal length on the lens did you use? You created a great sense of depth with the shot.

I followed your trip up there with one of mine. On days when it was 110 in Redding the fog was on the coastline. It would rise around 10 AM and the shafts of light would appear. An incredible visual experience. It would be interesting to convert this to B&W and maybe add just a tad of structure to the trees and branches. Nice work either way.

The mist has done wonders for this - excellent job of composing in what can be a chaotic environment.  Nicely done!

Sairam, This really worked out great. I'm glad the conditions came together for you so you were able to make this shot. I love what the fog added to this scene and that you captured so perfectly. I like this a lot.
Igor's suggestion sounds pretty interesting as well. Nice work!

Love your composition with the converging lines, and the luminous quality of the light is remarkable.  The hint of reds and greens in the trees is especially nice.  Outstanding.

Very dreamy, and the convergence is almost kaleidoscopic. There is just enough green to a splash of color. You did a nice job on this one, Sairam.

Very striking effect with the mist and the radial light filtering through the uprights of those tress.

I love the high key effect and the dreamy mood the fog imparts on this scene, Sairam. I have looked for an image like this, but never had the right conditions. I know there was nothing you could do about it, but I wish those two dead snags on the right were not there. Either way, kudos to you for pulling this off.

I love these types of shots. Up. Into the trees. Wonderful in my book. Very uplifting. Thank you.
