As the spider's web goes out of focus, the diffracted colors from the web show up much stronger.  Here's a look with more emphasis on the diffracted colors.  This also was a different web.  In wandering around looking, it seems that there is considerable variation in how strong the diffraction is depending both on the type of spider and on the individuals within a particular type.  (7D2, 180 mm macro L, 1/320s, f/8, iso 1600, tripod)  A larger version of this plus some additional views of this spider and it's web can be seen on my web site via the purchase print link and paging forward and back.

Very, very nice Mark! I've been experimenting with spider silk iridescence quite a lot lately, but I haven't tried this take on it. Sweet!

Hi Mark, a very interesting take on the web (positive sense) creates a great motif and the compostion is spot on.  A tiny touch but I'm not sure if some (bright) green has crept into the spider legs.  Legs or web, I think it would be good to tone this down (or pull it to a weak yellow) keeping the 'space colours' enlightened on the main part of the web.

Mark, The iridescence in the web is spectacular. I like very much the “pearls” on the top section. Great find and outstanding presentation. devil

Another beautiful web, Mark. The diffracted colors are awesome. This web you found is great with the tight pattern and the composition you have chosen works perfectly. Awesome image.
