I've had a lot of fun this year working with the Common Sundew (Drosera rotundifolia) for the first time - here a shot from last weekend when we revisited the site ...

Sigma SD1 Merril, Sigma 180mm Macro, F2.8, ISO 100, 1/320 sec.

A larger image can be seen HERE.

Like the color, soft blur, and the amount of detail of the flower.  Only one small suggestion... Blur or eliminate the light circle on the upper portion of the image.  I know its another flower, but the defined edges of the circle seem out of place with the softness of the rest of the background.

I like this better than your last Sundew. This one has not only the unique Sundew head, but an interesting supporting cast in the BG, giving a stronger sense of place. The OOF specular highlight at about ten o'clock is mildly distracting, but not a deal breaker by any means. A good and strong example of your excellent work.

Hi, thanks for the compliments, actually I probably should have called the picture 'Desert Sun' or something similar.  The vision behind the image was a 'cactus-like plant' emerging for a moment from a dust storm in the desert' ... and thus the hard circular specular highlight was, for me at least, an integral part of this concept ... I also finished a square version of the image as well (cropping out the left side), which also works very well as a motif, but for which this concept no longer holds, and thus the remainder of the specular highlight is strongly de-emphasized ...

Another real beauty. Exquisite colours, perfect comp, and sharp focus only where needed.
Love it!

This has wonderful colors and very interesting details in the sundew spot. Looks like a work of art.
