Turkey Vulture

While we were traveling between Colfax, WA and the Klamath Valley we stopped for a night at Cove Palisades State Park outside of Madras, OR.  There are two campgrounds and we stayed at the upper one before you drop into the canyon.  After dinner we went for a drive down into the canyon and stopped to look at a waterfall when a pair of vultures started soaring in front of it.  It looked as if they were just playing in the air currents with no real goal in mind.  I managed to get this one frame with a vulture in front of the waterfall and I liked the effect.

7D2,  Sigma 150-600 C @ 347 mm, hand held,  f/7.1, 1/1600, iso 800, aperture priority, pattern metering.  Processed in LR5 & CS6.  Cropped from a horizontal original.  Full height vertically.  Taken at 7:17 PM on July 12th.

Your comments and criticisms are always appreciated.

Thanks,

Beautiful birdscape, Dennis. This image really conveys the size of the falls. In a perfect world maybe the triangle of shade in the lower right would not be there, but beautiful as posted.

I think these "brda in front of falls" shots are really neat. Great job on the exposure Dennis.

I do wish the TV was sharper, but in this case just a minor item.  This is quite an image!  A unique experience thank you for sharing.

This is pretty cool, Dennis.  Good techs, but the comp and concept are excellent.  I really like it.
