Waves at Gooseberry

by Nick Bristol

Gallery: Man & NaturePosted July 31, 2016230 views10 comments
This is a picture I shot on Lake Superior near where the Gooseberry River flows into the lake on the north shore in Minnesota. There were some nice waves (not huge) but pretty nice in the early morning conditions. Besides the waves I really liked this sky and clouds which added quite a bit of interest to me.Large version included.
Canon, 24-105L @105, ISO 320,F/9 and 1/60 sec.

This is fantastic Nick.  The ss gives just enough motion and spray to the water, and those clouds do a great job of mimicking thembig splash off the jetty.  BW tones, look great to my eyes too.  I really like this.

Outstanding drama, Nick. The wave is exploding, and I like the way it is lit. Perfectly captured. The sky and clouds are a big plus as well. devil

I really like how the clouds and wave work together in this image, Nick. It's as though there are waves in the sky and clouds in the sea.

That's quite a splash, Nick.  With the repeated shapes in both the clouds and the water, this dramatic view also has an interesting sense of abstraction.

Fantastic B&W image Nick.  The water detail and especially the sky look great.

Exemplifies the power and beauty of nature!  As you have said the clouds do add to the drama.

Almost missed seeing this one Nick.  I have been there several times, but never anything as dramatic as this well taken image!
Thanks for sharing.
