Here's another from SE Arizona, we found a pond with large numbers of this species hawking over it and spent some time working on flight shots with them.

Really nice capture Nate. I know how hard these guys are. I like the nice look at the wings.

Tough enough to get these guys from underneath in the air, so this one from above is pretty neat. Nice job, Nate.

Sweet, Nate. I've been working on our Purple Martins lately and these insectivores are tough. This is incredibly sharp. Were they waiting until late evening to come out or did you have a bit more light?

Thanks everybody, Dennis, this was taken just right before last light, they started flying in numbers pretty late.

Nate, I really like this shot. A great view and I love the water as a backdrop. The sharpness of the nighthawk against the soft water works great. Very cool image and very well done!

Great job capturing the topside of the wings on this shot, Nate. The full wingspread and awesome light make this image. Super job.

Excellent setting and a great look of the nighthawk, Nate. I like the unique view and the details on the plumage. Fantastic flying pose and sweet light all add up for a fine image.

Wonderful shot and the vertical composition works well here. Interesting, overhere they are only active in the dark, so a shot like this would be out of the question...#envious .. Cheers, Hans

Very nice capture. We just don't get these in Western Washington. They sure are pretty bird and you've done really well and getting the detail. The bird really pops nicely over the water which has wonderful tones.
