This image is from my recent trip to Southern Africa. Pied Kingfishers were very active the entire day and with the mostly overcast conditions, we were able to spend a great part of the morning shooting from this blind. I have numerous shots of these guys going about their normal activities, but the head-on pose of this bird with his prey was a bit more unusual and interesting to me than most of the other images I made of this species.

Definitely an unusual Kingfisher pose, Chuck.  I don't think I've ever seen this angle before and it's quite effective.

That's a nice catch he has! I like the different approach that you chose to shoot head on instead of the classic side view. Techs look good as well!

Interesting angle and well composed image, Chuck. The background and lighting are very pleasing. Techs are spot on.

Really cool image Chuck. I am not always a huge fan of head on avian images, but sometimes they work really well. This is one of those times; it works perfect! Nice work!

Excellent work Chuck.  I like the black and white palette with the fish and the branch providing a small amount of color.
