Canon  5DIII, 28-135mm at 28mm, handheld
f5.6, 1/80, ISO1000

I usually photograph birds, but on a trip to the Sawtooths this past weekend I happened to have a second camera with me while I was chasing a Red-naped Sapsucker, and saw this. I rarely shoot landscapes, so be gentle. Posted as shot.

C & C, please. Thanks for looking.

Maybe you should shoot landscapes more often!  I really like the way that the mist is rising up off of the water.  Beautiful light to go along with a nice comp as well.  Nice work!

I like the light and that you can see detail in the shadows.  My only suggestion would be a possible slight crop from the top to make this more of a pano landscape shot but really a fine image as is. Very nice scene and good red-naped sapsucker landscape composition.

It's a fine landscape, Jim. A pano also works but this is great as shot. I like the rising mist.

I am going to be really hard on you Jim; you should shoot landscapes more often as this is wonderful. cool The light is great as well as the reflection and the mist on the water elevates this another notch. Love the clouds BTW.

I agree wih others, Jim, This is great and you should look for landscapes while listening for birds ;-).  I can imagin a very slight crop of the top (to eliminate the cloud a thumbs width from the upper left corner.  I love the clouds though...those white highlights, just great, so don't crop too much.

That's a pretty steady hand, Jim.  I would be hard pressed to HH this @ 1/80.  Very nicely done.  Stanley and the Sawtooth's are an amazing place.  I'm surprised that the image is so clean at an ISO of 1000.   Maybe I should think about shooting birds ;-).  No nits from me. Love it.
