Nikon 35-70 @ 35mm

ISO 800

White Mountains, NH

I had dropped off my brother Mike at this lupine field a minute earlier as I drove the truck up the road and turned around so we would be headed downhill. When I arrived the wind was blowing and this amazing light started to light up the clouds. The sweet light did not last long and I was concerned that 1/50 sec would not be fast enough to stop the motion in the lupines. I think this one turned out alright and is one of my favorites from the trip.

As always thanks for taking a look and leaving a comment or suggestion.

I love the wonderful misty orange backdrop Ed.  I think it looks great.

This is truly awesome, Ed.  The large version is incredible.  I remember your brother's image from this same spot, and it was very nice, but this is exceptional.  Great catch with the light and the shadow detail is as good as it gets.

Beautiful, Ed. The large image has excellent detail to go with the wonderful light, and I like the way the meadow slopes downward showing flowers off into the distance. Just a beautiful scene.

Outstanding image, Ed. The soft, warm light is gorgeous and the comp is excellent. Very minor nit but I'd burn down/crop out those bright tree trunks catching direct sunlight along the upper left side frame.

And to think you told me you didn't get any good shots.I love how the lupine zig zag down throught the field, leading the eye to the great light showering the treetops and mountain in that nice glow.devil

The glowing light on the clouds and distant peaks is a wonderful addition here, Ed.  In the larger version, the lupines stand out beautifully and look sharp.

Thanks for your thoughts everyone; always appreciated. Here is a repost with Dave and Harley's suggestion.
Mike: I think I came away with 8-10 images that I think I will like.

Love the lupine path leading into the wooded area with the mountain as a backdrop, and the lighting is to die for.   I was there this year also and did not find this viewpoint.  Great photo!

I think this was a good year for the lupine fields - last year not so good.  Wonderful lighting tops it off.It all came together for you, congrats on this one.
