Drowsy western grebes

Another western grebe image from the same pond as my previous image. This is of a pair taking a nap after feeding in the morning. I liked the muted color tones in the scene punctuated by the eye. It was interesting to observe how the grebes managed to keep alert even when they are sleeping.

Nice.  I like the mirrored positions and the low angle.

A wonderful job on the exposure, Govind and I like the sleepy poses with the half open eyes.  This might be one of those cases where the rule about keeping the foreground bird in focus should be broken, but I'd have to see it with the other one in focus to be sure.  The background bird appears larger and keeps drawing my eye.  If you happened to take another frame focused on the rear bird, you might be able to combine the two-I think I've managed it on two bird images where I've had a pair that were sitting still long enough.

Dennis: I'm afraid I do not have another image of the grebes in this set up for a focal stack. The pair was moving around constantly despite their sleepy phase. I do have some more of the pair with both sharper.

I apologize for not responding right away, but I was traveling out of the country on an unexpected trip with limited internet access.
