Marbled Murrelet
by Dennis Plank
From the same boat trip as my last post and the same location on the mainland side of Protection Island. Nate spotted this bird and identified it for us. It's one of the birds that requires big old trees as it builds it's nests well inland on their branches-a rather odd nesting habit for a seabird. I liked the quality of the water in this a lot and I wanted to maintain the feel of a small bird in a large ocean, so I left her pretty small in the frame.
