There was a nice heavy dew this morning and unfortunately, no freshly emerged dragonflies were available for photography.  I found this spittlebug froth on a dogwood stem with a dew drop. I was using some fill flash which produced the highlights, but are not overpowering.  For processing, I cropped slightly for composition, removed some noise with Neat Image, ran some luminosity masks on midtones, bright lights, and darks, and finished it off by adding a little brightness and contrast. K5 IIs 180mm f3.5 (1/400 sec at f8.0, ISO 1600) -.67ev, fill flash -1ev................................Jim

Ooohhh, yuck!....enlightened  sad  Jim, the details in the larger version are great.  The transition from frothy to clear in the spittle is good to see and you've got great details in the leaf and stem parts heading to the top of the frame.  Your fill flash looks very good, giving fine clarity without being obvious.

Are you sure you didn't just sneeze or something Jim. Kidding. These critters are really interesting. Nice work to really show this off for what it looks like in real life.
