This is an Argiope spider on one of my fences,  It was scanned from an old 35mm photo.

Lucy ..first thanks for suggesting this topic for WC.

What a place for this spider to be. Guess you have placed it in the environment, nice work\

She has a very angular web, Lucy, what kind of spider food do you have around...sad   The colors look good.  I like the subtly oof details in the background, that adds very nicely to the context.  Her abdomen looks just a touch soft, which strikes me as a scanning issue given the detail in the background plus in my slide scanning, the results never seem as sharp as my digital captures.

She is in her natural environment. Our little ranch backs up to a large woodland and drainage slough, which gives us all of our "transition"zone wildlife including a wealth of insects.  Since we moved here, 14 years ago, I have seen more wildlife than I've seen, since leaving the rich environment of my childhood in Pensacola, fl,
Thanks for looking at this.beautiful spider.  Most of my photos of this species incude their, usual, zig zag web.

Unique image, Lucy. Unusual to get such a fine look at both a spider and the "big picture."

If that fence has the dimensions I think it does, that's a pretty impressive spider, Lucy.    Nice job on the focus. and dof.

Oh yes, Dennis. It is horse 🐎 fencing...Quite an impressive spider, indeed!  It's bigger than my 72 inch lens cap, if you include the legssad.
