Tree Swallow

I was out this morning and decided to try some shots with heavily oof garden flowers in the foreground and background.  This Tree Swallow was obliging enough to settle on a perch in the middle of a flower garden and stay there while I shifted tripod positions and heights.  I suspect that after a week of hot weather, they were really feeling the cold morning.

7DII, Sigma 150-600 C @ 600 mm, Wimberley Sidekick on Z1 ballhead on RRS legs, f/6.3, 1/400, iso 800, aperture priority, pattern metering, -1/3 EV.  Processed in LR5 & CS6.  Cropped the original vertical shot top and bottom to a 4x5 aspect ratio, full width.  Taken at 5:58 AM.

Your comments and criticisms are always appreciated.

Thanks,

I like the experiments with the oof flowers.  I always wonder if viewers tire of BOAS images.  They may be nice but the originality factor does get old after a while.  Unfortunately it appears to be one of the major accepted standards in avian photography.  You caught the cooperative Tree Swallow in excellent morning light and sharp focus.  It does look as if it might be a little cold.

A beautiful image Dennis, very well thought and executed, lovely light and the out of focus flowers are a nice element.  devil

Great to get this swallow to pose so well in gorgeous light, and with a stunning background. The oof flowers bring a pleasing splash of color into the composition, well presented Dennis!

Dennis, this is very nice. I like the OOF flowers in the foreground and the catch light in the eye. Excellent!

You've got some gorgeous flowers that offers great settings for the birds. I love how this guy is all puffed up, it makes him look extra cute. cool
