Himba Woman's Hair
by Richard Sandor
Recently I visited Namibia. While there, our group was able to spend a bit of time at a Himba village. At a young age, the women in the village coat their bodies in ochre to act as a sunscreen and skin softener. Here is a photo of one of the women seated in late afternoon shade. I was attracted to the way her hair braids were treated with the ochre and how the untreated ends displayed against her body. Olympus E-M1 and 45mm f/1.8 lens 1.8, ISO 1000 and 1/500. C & C welcome. Richard
