Little Blue

I photographed this Little Blue Heron in South Cove, Old Saybrook, Ct  I was able to follow the Heron for ten minutes, as the bird fished along the shore. The photo is cropped by about 15% and I adjusted it with some Clarity, Vibrance and Saturation in
Lightroom 5.

Excellent, Peter.  The bird pops nicely from the bg in the larger version and that long string of water weed is priceless.  It adds tremendously to the composition and interest of the image.

Nice action, good techs and the flying reed is a real plus. In your post-processing, I think you should consider backing the Saturation off just a little bit. When I saw the image I thought "satuation" even before I read your description. When viewers get that reaction, you've probably got too much.

Looks like he's using that weed as a whip Peter. I like this image a lot, the comp works well and I like the implied action from the water rings. The saturation looks fine to me but I was thinking the image might benefit from just a little brightening. Something you could try and see easily. Some people like to leave enough room on the bottom for the "virtual" legs and feet, something to think about. Very cool capture!

Very nice well composed image with nice sharp image and nice action. I don't see a problem with the saturation on my monitor which is calibrated. I sit in a dark room so the brightness is okay but this is a subjective issue and you could slightly brighten it if you wish. But I'm fine with it as it is.  One of my concerns would be that the beak highlights might become too much if you increase the brightness.
