Pastel Sunrise

Nikon D700
Nikon 17-35 @ 32 mm
f 18 @ 1.6 sec.
ISO 200
Cape Henlopen SP, DE

I had gotten up early to catch the sunrise, but did not expect much when I noticed the cloudy foggy conditions as I approached the beach. Boy was I wrong, as this turned out to be one of those surreal mornings with some lovely pastel colors in the sky. The rising sun peaking through the overcast conditions was the icing on the cake for me.

As always thanks for taking a look and leaving a comment or suggestion.

Gorgeous, Ed !  Love the softness, the spatial quality and the sense of freshness and serenity.  Beautifully composed with that tiny sun peeking through the cloud to act as a focal point.

Perfect. Almost monochrome. The indistinct horizon.

Beautiful, Ed.  gorgeous colors and your slow shutter speed complemented the pastel palette very well.

The subtle orange glow throughout this image, looks great, Ed.  That subtlety also fits very well with the softness of the surf and the wave from your long exposure.  The hint of sun does indeed provide the icing on the cake.  There's a wonderful dreaminess to this view.

I like how the lines of the sky and beach both sweep to the left.  The softness of the colors and the slow shutter work in harmony here.  Very nice for a gentle mood.
