Tossing The Caber
by Philip Hodgkins
Taken at the Savannah Highland Games. The objective is to bring the caber upright by the small end, flipping it 180 degrees where the small end lies exactly opposite the tosser. This particular caber weighed in at about 150 pounds. This is a very difficult feat, involving precision timing and strength yes, but applied in a counter intuitive move allowing the heavy end to assist you. Of the two classes (150 pound caber and 75 pound caber), only two made a complete toss, and that was in the 75 pound toss. This gentlemen made an impressive try, but he started his toss too early.
Thanks for looking. Comments and critiques are always welcome.
