I think this is my best capture. It shows that marvelous eye really well. Processed using Lightroom 5 and Photoshop CC 2014 along with Light Craft's LightZone. Comments and critiques welcome.

Jerry, You have gotten a great group of nighthawks! The only one I have ever seen was asleep on the boring ground, so I'm quite envious.
I agree this is the best of the bunch, but all were very fine. The tail here is slightly soft here, so perhaps a bit of selective sharpening there would further improve this excellent image.

The best of a very good series of shots; like Sandy, I'm jealous of the opportunity you found. I like that you can even see the wear in the bird's primaries. devil
