Delicate

Its been a very hectic time over the last month with a lot of traveling - luckily however ;-) with many opportunities to take out the camera.  This shot was a wonderful find by Ines in the foothills of the 'Parc National Du Haut-Languedoc' in southern France - A Woodcock Orchid (Ophrys scolopax).  Although I also took shots at different times with both the Meyer Görlitz Orestor and Meyer Görlitz Trioplan, this shot with the Sigma 180mm Macro 'stole the show' (and my heart) ...

Sigma SD1 Merril, Sigma 180mm Macro F2.8 EX DG OS HSM. Shot at F4, 1/250 sec. ISO 100.

This is just gorgeous! The soft colours, delicate flower and killer BG make this exceptional.
I'm a bit torn about the placement in the frame.
I don't know if it's possible, but perhaps moving the flower down in the frame a bit would balance this more. I'm also wondering what placement in the left side would look like.
Beautiful as is -

Sandy

Beautifully executed, Mark !  Like Sandy I have just a doubt about the framing ( I guess I feel it might be cropped a touch ) but that is a very minor ( and very subjective ) point concerning a finely conceived image with a charming mood.

Excellent, Mark. Kudos on your artistic vision to see shots like this and for the ability to capture them.

The large view needs to be seen to appreciate this. The question of balance brought up by Sandy and Ian is worth considering and playing around with, but you may have already done that. Personally, after I looked at the large image, I felt it was fine where it is. For me, this is minimal well wrought and conceived.devil
