gentle nudge

I was watching this bison cow and calf as the herd at the Wildlife Prairie Park, in central Illinois started to move away.  The calf wanted to lay down, but the cow had other ideas.  Her gentle nudge did not work as the calf did drop to the ground, but only for a few seconds before it was up and moving along.

John,

nice story and photo to document it. I also like the second calf at the top right corner. I may have cropped a bit more from the left to emphasize the "action" a bit more. Technically it looks good as well, nice sharpness and exposure.

The situation reminds me to a trip to Kenya where I observed something similar at the Amboseli NP and elephants. The little guy always wanted to lay down, but the mother gave it always at nudge to be able to follow the herd. It was fun to observe cool

Love the cow and calves John. I wish the big weed int he foreground was less obtrusive. Nice warm sunny day feel to this and the calves are always so cute. Looks like good feed from lots of water. Wish we had a little water here in California once in a while.
