Felled Tree

This shot was taken in a wet woodland by the banks of the river Mersey.  The woodland is dominated by crack willows and other wet-loving trees but has been colonised by various species which cannot easily survive in such conditions.  When a tree becomes dangerous for walkers in the woods it is felled.

The light is very nice, Ian, bringing out the trees, ferns and flowers. I generally don't like to include tree stumps with obvious saw cuts in my shots, but I understand you are telling a story here, and the overall woodland scene is quite nice in the spring greens and nice warm light.
