Lichen on basalt, Snake River Plain, Idaho

These are in a small drainage on the Interstate north of Idaho Falls. Entire rock faces are covered with lichen.

Minolta XE-7, Minolta 100 macro, Provia 100..

Beautiful colors and textures iin these lichens. It doesn't look quite sharp on my monitor, though. Would like to see a sharper version.

These lichens are amazing--wonderful patterns. The image image could be slightly sharper, but still an awesome lichen shot crying

This is a terrific collection of colors, Pete, distributed well throughout the frame. The subtle lack of sharpness speaks to the challenges of scanning slides and the improved resolution of digital sensors....we get spoiled so quickly.

Wonderful colors, Pete. I spent a winter in Idaho Falls ages ago, but I don't think I ever noticed the lichen. This is a beautiful patch.

Extraordinary colours and textures, Pete, very nicely brought out. I don't know how far you've added saturation here but it makes for a striking image.
