Brain Light

This past Sunday morning's sunrise which may be one of the best I've witnessed at this location atop the Paria Plateau. It is a nice feeling of anticipation seeing cloud structure above and a gap on the horizon in early dawn. The white brain rock can be painted a nice tint of color from the morning sky.

Beautiful sky and nice foreground to lead into it. I might be inclined to crop a little off the bottom to make the sky a bit more prominent? Nice sunrise to behold either way.

Very nice as presented, Doug, and you obviously know the location. I might be tempted to brighten up the BG rocks just a tad to better match the light on the FG rock but that's just reaching for a critique.

That's one weird landscape, and you captured in a very effective way. Can't go wrong with this light of course, it complements the land perfectly. Very nice!

Quite a treat to see large, Doug! My suggestion would be to add a little more punch to the image, if you are so inclined. A little bit more contrast and this would be incredible. It already is so :)

Sweet light and comp, Doug. The horizontal flow of this image is emphasized very nicely with the landscape format. I like the warmth of the scene along with the drama laden sky. Gorgeous work.

Great conditions at White Pocket, Doug, and you did very well with them.  Such an amazing place, I've got to get there soon. Awesome sky, I would punch up the foreground some, it looks a little flat to me, but not too much.

I really like the subdued pastel colors in this image which give this a unique feel compared to many of the other images that I have seen from this location.  I also like how the reddish curve formed in the foreground rocks from left to right is kind of a mirror image of a corresponding curve formed by the clouds.  This creates a subtle symmetry that really makes the composition work for me.  Nicely done!  devil

Thanks for the suggestions.  I agree that the rock can use a little more brightness and contrast to help accent the contours.

Wonderful cloud color to accent the crazy rock. I like the suggestion to add contrast, although my vote would be for darker sky as part of that.

Excellent take on this marvelous landscape, Doug.  Points well taken on the FG, and as an option, it might be interesting to selectively warm up the tones and exposure a bit in the FG.  Nice work!
