In Cordova, Alaska, on the east side of Prince William Sound, it's hard not to see Bald Eagles. Partly it's the canneries, but mostly it's the very long series of fish runs: herring, euchalon, all five Pacific salmon and more. Cordova itself has a lot of history: the abandoned railroad terminal, abandoned canneries and a lot of rusting wreckage from the 1964 Good Friday Earthquake. Combine that with a tide range of 20-25 feet, and you have very strange contrasts. These Bald Eagles are perched on a rusting, barnacle-encrusted storage tank, probably from the 1964 earthquake.
70% of full frame. Selective sharpening to the birds. Slight adjustments to Shadows and Highlights.
