Alligator

While trying to get a shot of wading birds gathering nesting material, I noticed that at this one spot, they would attempt to land, but would shy off.  As it turned out, I wasn't the only one interested in the location.  This rather large Alligator surfaced just where I was framing a shot.  St. Martin, Parish, Louisiana, April, 2015.

Raoul: nicely seen and well captured. The pose is unique and gives a profile view which shows those formidable teeth. The greenery forms a natural frame and the eye contact is a big plus. Richard

I would echo all of Richard's comments.  The perspective giving one a sense the he is deliberately looking into "our" eye makes this one especially appealing.  Diagonal composition adds nice tension, too.  Warm lighting is also noteworthy!

Raoul,
I like this for the simple fact that the head is out of the water, nicely captureddevil
