House Wren

Canon 1D-X, 500mm f4 x 1.4 TC, handheld
f5.6, 1/640, ISO8000

The ISO is not a typo; it was pretty dark back in there. As a result, the depth of field is less than I'd like. But I was still pleased to find a wren even this far out in the open.

75% of full frame. Slight sharpening of the bird. Noise reduction to background.

C & C please. Thanks for looking.

You put the focus where it needed to be, Jim and managed to stop the beak, which I suspect was vibrating a bit.  Really excellent noise control at that iso.  Excellent work.

Good job for such high iso.  You can tell with the detailed view but it is not objectionable at all.  You did an excellent job with the processing and noise reduction.

Yea, more dof would have been nice but this is a very strong shot as is. Nice singing pose and I like the background. Great job on the processing.

Hi Jim,

The head detail is awesomedevil.  The shallow DOF is OK here and overall, you handled a difficult scene very well................Jim

Nice clean image of a bird which doesn't come out int he open often. I like the open beak in this one. Not much you could have done to get more DOF with already being at ISO 8000 and shooting wide open. Nice work Jim!

Nicely capture Jim.  Great results considering the conditions.  I like the singing pose and that the head and beak are nice and sharp.
