Here's a photo of a young Buddhist monk. Our guide told us that many if not all of the children in the monastery were brought to the monastery because the parents were too poor to care for and feed them. While the young boy seemed pensive when I photographed him, he did break into laughter shortly thereafter at the remark of a classmate. Olympus E-M1, 35-100 lens at 72, 1/160, f/3.2 and ISO 2000. C & C welcome. Richard

A nice shot at the right moment.  Might consider a slight crop on the left to eliminate the back of the head that's showing.

Richard,

From the thumb I thought "Pensive" as a great title.  It still is... but I also think of day dreaming....  like his mind is somewhere else besides the studies....

A terrific and poignant image.

I agree with Lon's review and comment here........laugh

Gosh, I think I've had a flash back from my school days viewing this scene....sad...........my days in school were more socializing then learning..!!

This is truly a wonderful candid image, Richard. Having the other students in the BG actually paying attention to the lessons at hand seems to add to the "day-dreaming" look on this young persons face.

Great title and fine capture. I might be tempted to burn down the boy in the background on the right. I find him visually competing a bit with the main figure.

Fine capture of this "pensive" young boy.  Though the boy on the right may be competing a bit with the main subject I think his attention elsewhere give credence to the far away look of the main  subject. I like it with all the boys present except the head far left.

Hey Richard,
Once again you have impressed me with your ability to be at the right place, at the right time with a camera in your hand.
This is excellent, well done . . .  devil
