Really like this B&W, Gary. The undulating patterns in the ground are perfectly framed by the two rocks on either side of the frame. Lovely processing. No nits. :)

Wait, this is Earth, right? Certainly otherworldly, Gary, and skillfully represented and composed.

And now a photo captured by the Mars Lander........
Sweet!! It looks good in B&W. I might prefer the color version, but hard to say. Excellent image! Great tones, lines, shapes and textures.

Very impressive. The symmetry in the foreground works great to frame the intriguing landscape. Conversion looks perfect.

Fantastic B&W of an otherworldly landscape. Framing choice works great and adds a lot of depth. I too would love to see this in color under optimal lighting conditions.

Otherworldly for sure, I don't know where this is, but it is a nice find and I would keep it secret.....
Your version of this "place" is awesome.

Incredible, Gary. The undulating forms receding and curving back, framed between the two buttresses is really amazing. Love the luminance you achieved on those rock forms. Your mastery of b/w really comes through on this image. Stunning.

Gary,
OH MY! This is unlike anything I've seen - certainly at least posted on NPN! Otherworldy, of course. Guardians? My first thought as well; a little more human sculpting and it could have been ancient Egyptians... or maybe Planet of Apes?
This is spectacular and am having a hard time putting anything in words.
The only suggestion I have would be to tone down the highlights if you can; tops of the rocks on the left guardian and the face on the right. No biggie, the contrasts are wonderful. Just a thought.
Lon
ps. I hope you didn't show this to Harley when he visited recently. He wouldn't have liked it.

Those are quite the formations, Gary! It looks like a jumble of plates strewn across the lowlands. Your b&w conversion does a fine job of emphasizing those amazing shapes and textures.

That is one fitting title to a fantastic photo. I really dig how you choose the two major rocks to frame the pic here, and the look of the land is just magnificent. No nits, just gorgeous.

The image and title remind me of some of the opening scenes in Prometheus. WOW !! You got a real winner here, Gary. Hard to believe I'm seeing all this geology in one frame. Next time out there I'd like to check this area out.

Wonderful shapes.Utah does have some wonders! Just a processing idea, might take th image in a different direction. Tone down / darken the side pillars, and brighten the center craters to direct the eye there. The edges seem a bit bright, which I think Lon was getting at. I guess my thoughts would be take it to a far greater extent to make the center portions framed by a much darker boarder. Tope tones look fine though. Nice find!

Excellent image, Gary. One of your best. This is art in my book. Where objects transcend their appearance and take on other meaning. Great job.

Very nice B&W well composed with those patterns and the main line in center that guides the eyes towards the background.

The larger version definitely has greater impact than the small version. Excellent B&W conversion Gary. What an amazing landscape.

Striking composition. Love how you have the framing emphasize the passage into the scene. Might be interesting to see in color but B&W really emphasizes the amazing textures and otherworldliness of this.

I love the composition and textures in this, Gary. I too am curious about the color version, and for the heck of it, I wouldn't mind seeing Harry's suggestion or even, gasp, a selective color rendition, but then again, it's rainy in Portland, so I'm looking for kicks.

Great textures here Gary. I like the loss of sense of scale. The large version is amazing.
