Not a very colourful bird, so de-saturated, tweaked, and removed lots of BG - so I guess this goes in the Photo Art  Gallery.

I just LOVE these guys - such gorky-looking birds!

I like the black and white treatment and that you kept the color in the eye.  Nice perch and pose as well.
P.S.  Did you mean "dorky" instead of "gorky"?  I think "gork" carries a different connotation.

LOL! gorky AND dorkey!

Gork = "A stuporous, unusual, or odd person; dork, geek, jerk: Hubert is such a gork. His glasses are always falling off his nose, and he wears plaids with stripes "

I didn't know "gork" was a real (i.e dictionary defined) word.  I found your definition, but the one I'm familiar with is

noun, Medicine/Medical Slang: Disparaging and Offensive.
a patient whose brain has suffered severe and irreversible damage and whose vital functions are being maintained by artificial means.noun, Medicine/Medical Slang: Disparaging and Offensive.

I had always thought it was just an offensive slang term.

Anyway, good to have you back posting. devil

Hey Sandy,
Good to see you back, how are the new living quarters ? I guess we will be seeing subjects photographed from your new local soon.
Great work on this Hornbill, the B&W conversion has a very nice tonal range with good details and pose. The overall image seems a bit bright on my monitor and could be lowered just a little IMO. The large version is very impressive, I'm on the fence about the eye.

Beautiful treatment. I like the color in the eye; it is a nice touch.

I too am more familiar with the medical definition of gork.

Well made, Sandy! I like the touch of color in the eyes, and the background as modified. A very nice b/w on its own merits. And welcome back to NPN!crying

Fantastic work, Sandy.  The background sure focuses all attention on this beautiful bird.  One amazing portrait.
Congratulations on the EP.
