Cape Neddick Lighthouse

by Nancy de Flon

I made this image of the lighthouse also known as Nubble Light on a bright windy day in early spring. The cloud formation saved it from what would otherwise probably have been a rather run-of-the-mill photo.

Nikon D7100
f/14 at 1/40 sec., ISO 200. Polarizing filter.
+0.7 exposure bias, pattern metering.
Tripod!

I like your composition, Nancy. I think it would have worked without the foreground rocks also. Some nice colors on the structures...  they look freshly painted.  Could be me, but the horizon line seems to angle to the left. Quite a zany sky, and you have chosen to highlight it. If traveling, we have to  accept what we are given. If local, we can make arrangements when the sky fits our mood. I would also be interested in the lighthouse and the accompanying structures and details. It is quite a spit of land...is this the Maine coast?

Nice color and dynamic range, Nancy. I do find the poles and wires distracting, however. Also, I agree with Stephen about the CCW tilt of the horizon. I like the foreground rocks as they add a sense of depth. The sky is very nice, too.

I like how the clouds seem to be radiating from the lighthouse Nancy.  I too think the foreground rocks adds some depth to the image.
