The bird was acting like it was hunting, even though it was six feet above the water. 

Cropped a bit from the left and top for composition. Slight sharpening of bird.

Nice detail, Jim and a cool perch for a GBH.  The perch gave you some excellent separation from the bg.

Great to catch one of these with some space behind it (outside of nesting season).  The light and your exposure/processing show very well how this species got its name.
