Dahlia Fire (WC 730)

After seeing Mark and Albert's fire images, I couldn't resist posting my version. This is a close up of a dahlia taken in the morning sun. Some selective "burning" was applied to enhance the look of a fire. Dahlia, Fellows Riverside Gardens, D600, 150 macro, f5, iso 200, 1/200, hh.

I love this Scott. It really captures the essence of a fire. Beautiful color and nice use of backlighting.

Great choice for the Weekly Challenge. Really does look like a fireplace fire while also looking like a flower. Great eye and processing.

Yes, Scott, this has a fine "explosive flame" sense.  Pretty amazing that it's a flower!  Very well seen and presented.

Fully agree with the previous comments. Let me add that selective sharpness is very effective here, imho.

Very very cool, Scott.  Makes a better fire than a lot of the real thing.  I like this a lot.

Beautiful illusion, Scott.  I think the limited depth of field has a lot to do with the success of this image as clever abstraction.  Well seen and executed.
