729 is the WC #, but it could also be the number of water reflection abstracts I've shot. One of my favorite themes. I have a ton of these in my files. Most shot in fall, but I went out on Easter Sunday to my favorite local pond for shooting abstracts and shot a few more just for this challenge. I picked this one, cropped it to semi-pano and added some contrast. D600, 80-400 @ 175, 1/250, f16, iso 500.

Same image but rotated sideways for a more abstract look.

Scott, I too thoroughly enjoy water reflection views and spring can be as good as fall when it comes to colors.  This is a fine view, with the tree trunks extending top to bottom plus some sky and land.  The nicely rippled water does a good job of abstracting the view.  I guess it's being rooted in reality, but I prefer the original post even as I agree that it's more abstract.  Now that you "tweaked" me, I may go visit the C&O canal today, which is always a good source for this type of view...

This works really well he cause you've got some interesting layers. With respect to the horizontal crop, you've got a layer of color and a layer of blue at the bottom. This is broken up by the birch trees throughout the frame. Nicely seen.

Very nice Scott! The pano crop choice was a good one. Calm colors and just enough detail to be recognizable. Looks great!

Love the corduroy texture going horizontally and the reflections going vertically. I also like the pano crop and the colors. Very nice image. Sideways also works well for me. Probably diagonally would too! Sign of a great abstract.

Scott, I like the vertical version. It has a more abstract feeling and makes me think. Good idea to flipped it to vertical.
