Great Sand Dunes NP

One of my favorite photographic pursuits is using my long lenses to extract compositions from a grander scene. At GSDNP the possibilities are infinite. Caught this view as the sun settled behind the dunes and day gave way to dusk. All comments welcome.>=))>

When I first looked at this image, I thought it was the Palouse in Washington State based upon the shadows on the rolling hills and the light/shadows.  But the greens were missing...  So regardless, this is a refreshing view.  I like what you have here.  I am familiar with sand dunes in Colorado and the shadows in Washington.  So this image really works well as an abstract combination of two ideas with remote familiarity.  Good job on the execution.

Wonderful patterns. The low yellow light nicely accentuates the 'defects'. I like the contrast between the warm yellow light and the cool grays. Good choice to select a 'detail' (possibly several hundred meters large...). I could wish for a bit more space on the right. It looks a bit soft in the middle or is it the wind displacing sand? Like it anyway.

Really nice.  Sensuous.  I've got to get there sometime.

Bill, the lighting here is wonderful, with the soft yellow glow angling across the frame.  It's interesting to me how the long lens has softened the details in the sand, which adds an extra level of abstraction to this fine view.

Beautiful dunes shot, Bill. Excellent use of the zoom to isolate this section from the large landscape.
