Very cool looking cat Ken, and great capture. Knowing nothing about this animal, how difficult are they to find, and are they endangered?

Charles,
Thanks for your comment for me at least a rare sighting I think we have seen it 5 times . Our best ever sighting was in the Mara where we observed 3 kittens with Andy Rouse.
It is listed in CITES Appendix 2, indicating it is "not necessarily now threatened with extinction, but that may become so unless trade is closely controlled."[19] It is still common—locally even expanding—in much of sub-Saharan Africa,[2] but is extinct in the Cape Province in South Africa.

Solid presentation.  I think the only thing one could wish for would be some reflective light in the eyes.

Richard and Lon,
Thanks very much, it was unfortunately early in the morning so not enough light to get the eyes "popping".

Awesome to photograph this species close up out in the open, looks great to me Ken.  I have only seen them at a great distance so far. devil

A very interesting cat and a very nice capture of it, Ken!  Exposure, focus and colors are all excellent.  Thanks for showing something I'll probably never get a chance to see.

Nate,
Most of our sightings have been at a long distancesad
Gary,
The main reason I post and look at others images is to see something I would never normally seedevil
