Rippled Sunset
by Bill Chambers
Thank you for the comments on my previous image, I really do appreciate them.
I just upgraded my computer and monitor and this is the first image I've turned out with it. I think the colors are OK, but I'm wondering about the brightness. Please let me know what you think.
Shot this at Gulf Islands National Seashore a while back, and even though there were no clouds, it was still a pretty sunset.
Please view the High Resolution Large Version for best detail.
Critiques and comments always welcomed and appreciated.

Pleasing pastel colors.
Nick, I'm still searching for the proper brightness - this is set at 120, but I haven't seen a print yet from this brightness level. I've processed this image three times now (one with factory settings - came calibrated for color but they had the brightness higher than I wanted. Process once at a setting of 100, and this one at 120). I still not satisfied with the processing here, and I will try again later, perhaps tonight to come up with a satisfactory image.
Here are the calibrated values on my NEC for reference:
Black Body: 6506 K
Black Level Luminance: 0.55 cd/m2 Luminance: 110 cd/m2
Contrast Ratio: 200:1
Gama: 2.2
Delta E: 0.28

The quality of light here is just exquisite. Your processing is also immaculate here. This is a quiet and beautiful image.
What I must comment on though is my reaction and what this image portrays to me. And that is the physical atmosphere as if I were standing there. For this time of year we have a lot of winter images, snow, etc. and of course one can attribute the feeling of cold. Here, I feel warmth; not as in warm/cool color temperature, but the kind of warmth one feels towards the end of hot day at the beach; quiet, perhaps a bit humid... just that feeling like I'm right there, or at least makes me recall those times at the beach.
this one is much more than a pretty sunset.
Lon
edit: btw, the brightness is perfect for me and my monitor.
