Not all Vermilion Flycatchers are vermilion, like the eight I have posted previously over the years. This is a first year female, and the first female Vermilion Flycatcher I’ve posted.
I was much farther away when I first sae this bird, and I was having trouble deciding what it was. I worked closer taking photos every few steps hoping to get a shot that would allow me to name it.
Further note that the “sweet morning light” in AZ doesn’t last very long, so this shot almost two hours after sunrise isn’t very warm.
