Hoodie Drake in Flight

Always been one of my favorite ducks to photograph. I was fortunate this one was pointed toward me rather than away (the usual position I find Hooded Mergansers in when flying by me).

1DX, 500mm f/4, 1.4 TC, 1/4000 at f/9, ISO 1250

Beautiful capture, Kurt. I have a few fuzzy images of these guys. They are skittish and fast. I really like the wing position and angle of flight. I also like the lowered head, implying speed. Well done.

What a shot.  You've blessed us with some great duck portraits over the years - but this is one of my favorites.  I really like how this shows off the aerodynamic properties of that hood!

Great flight shot indeed. Love the angle of the head. Looks like he,s really giving it some !!
I nwould maybe tone the BG down a tiny bit but that's just my  personal opinion. No big deal Great stuff whatever,

Kurt: a good one. I had never seen a photo of a Hooded Merganser in flight. Aerodynamics are paramount even for the hood. Richard

Great flight pose, Kurt.  I love the way it's crest looks in flight and the slightly upturned bill.

Awesome shot of this fast duck, Kurt.  Excellent wingspread and the intensity on the duck is very evident. The only ones I have seen have been too far away and very skittish. Great image overall. devil
