Duckscape
by Dennis Plank
This might have been more appropriate for the Avian Gallery, but the ducks are so ill defined that I thought it worked better in this Gallery. Another from Nisqually. I like the way the array of ducks conveys the decrease of visibility with distance. I was on a small sailboat in pretty dense fog one New Year's Day and the loss of perspective made the ducks appear about the size of a Tyrannosaur when they finally emerged from the fog.
7D2, Sigma 150-600 C @ 157 mm, tripod, f/8, 1/3200, iso 800, aperture priority, pattern metering. Processed in LR5 & CS6. I brought the brightness up considerably and increased contrast a bit to make the ducks pop out of the bg a bit more. Full frame. Taken at 9:56 AM on February 25th.
Thanks for all your comments-this is a great gallery and I really appreciate the constructive input you folks provide.

7 commentsNot a big deal, but think I would take this full b&w. The bit of browns in a few of the ducks is almost a distraction. But I'd say that's getting pretty nitpicky... ;-)

This image is so darn tranquil, and you have been on a roll with these sweet images. The first element that struck me is the duck on the left. The duck on the left makes this image work so well because the duck brings a nice balance to the rest of the image. I guess Lon and I are thinking the same thing, lol. I like the idea of going full blown black and white too.
A beautifully serene image
